Sebastian James DeLora

Sebastian James DeLora, 90 was called to heaven by God on December 24, 2020 at 12:48am of Congestive Heart Failure. Jim passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family. He was the epitome of a family man. Jim worked in the formal wear business until he was 88 years old. Jim transcended the idea of simply dressing for one’s wedding or prom into an art form where the attire worn would be special and perfectly chosen to be remembered in photographs forever.
Jim met his wife Peg when she went to work for his family business, DeLuxe Cleaners, when she moved to Clifton, from Jersey City, (New Jersey). She was 17 years old and Jim was 21. It was love at first sight. Jim added the formal wear business just in time for their marriage ceremony calling the business DeLuxe Formal Wear.
Jim served his country honorably as an Army CPL MP from 1953 to 1955. Jim could not wait to begin his life with Peg; four months later they were married at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. Jim lived life; he LOVED life. But he loved nothing more than his wife Peg. "Come live with me and be my love and we will all the pleasures prove" (and they did for over 65 years). Jim had so many interests and hobbies; all of them could not fit on this page alone.
Jim was a sports fanatic! From bowling to MMA & Boxing, but nothing could match his long-time admiration of the New York Yankees. Jim also had a true passion for music. His taste was quite eclectic, whether it be the Bossa Nova or Frank Sinatra; his connection to music could only be matched by his passion for fishing. He travelled to the most Northern regions of Canada and Alaska, all the way down to Florida searching for the perfect spot to fish. He basked from Sunrise to Sunset reaching an almost meditative state.
Jim will be remembered as the beloved husband of his loving Wife, Margaret “Peggy” DeLora (nee Shaughnessy) his loving children, James DeLora, his wife Patricia Mastrodonato DeLora, Kathleen DeLora Antonucci, her husband Jeffrey Antonucci, Lisa DeLora, her husband Zack, Craig DeLora and three grandchildren, Jeff Antonucci, Ashley Antonucci and Gabrielle DeLora, his brother Joe DeLora, Jim's parents Joseph DeLora and Anna DeLora (Protetti) both have passed, Jim also had a brother Patrick and a sister Mary, both pre-deceased.
A celebration of life mass will be held in the near future at St. Phillips the Apostle Parish, Clifton, New Jersey.
