Valerie Balady Obituary

Valerie Balady, age 65, loving mother of three, and adoring wife to Bruce Balady, passed away on April 11, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Valerie was born in Paterson on December 10, 1956, and grew up surrounded by her large family. She had two wonderful parents, three siblings and lots of aunts, uncles, and cousins. She graduated from Wayne Valley High School in ‘74 and from Montclair State University in ‘78.

She worked at IBM for 14 years and was then a dedicated teacher for 12 years at Passaic County Technical Institute where she taught Business Education. Valerie headed the Future Business Leaders of America and received various accolades in her profession over the years. She retired from teaching in 2003, to stay home and care for her youngest child, Jeff.

Valerie was predeceased by her mom, Regina Siouffi. She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Bruce Balady; her father William Siouffi; her siblings and their spouses Sandra and Thomas Woods, Janet and George Sous, and Elias and Randi Siouffi; her daughter Regina and son-in-law Eddie Howard; her daughter Jaclyn and son-in-law Ryan Spilberg; her son Jeff Balady; and adored grandchildren Mark and Ava Howard and Leila Spilberg.

Valerie was well-loved by all. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Despite her large family, in her selfless way, always made time for everyone and put all others first. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and especially taking care of, proudly boasting about, and spoiling her three precious grandchildren. You would always find her in the kitchen whipping up her family’s favorite Syrian meal or supporting and playing with Mark, Ava, and Leila.

The visitation will be held on Monday, April 18th, from 2pm-5pm and 6pm-9pm, at St. Ann’s Melkite Catholic Church, 802 Rifle Camp Road, Woodland Park. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 19th, at 10am, arrival time at 9am, at St. Ann’s Melkite Catholic Church with the burial following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations towards cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Valerie’s name http://mskcc.convio.net/goto/ValerieBalady
